IEAMのLeaned Discorsesに投稿したときに，Peter (Chapman)にpollutedをことごとく，contaminatedに編集された記憶があって，まぁどっちでもいいので，そのまま承諾してたのですが，やはり拘りがあったのですね。読んでないのですが，たまたまみつけたので，メモとして。ボクの理解だと，コンタミネーションは”存在”に意識があって，ポリューションは"影響"に意識がある感じですかね。まぁPeter先生の解釈が正しいかは，よくわからないのですが，個人的に好きなので。Heavy metalsを使うのやめようぜ，運動といい，この人結構変わってておもろい*1。
Contamination is simply the presence of a substance where it should not be or at concentrations above background. Pollution is contamination that results in or can result in adverse biological effects to resident communities.
