hierarchical partitioning とvariation partitioningについて，興味があったので，ちょっと調べてみた。以下，あくまで使用経験のないレベルでの憶測＋数時間だけざっと調べた段階の個人的メモです。ご利用は計画的に。
Hierarchical partitioningは，Amanoさんの論文で見て，Mac Nallyの論文でざっと。細かい手法については，ChevanとSutherlandを読めということなのでしょう*1。重回帰分析みたいな状況を想定して，複数の説明変数があって，それらの相対的な重要性を知りたい場合に使うようです*2。これがうまくどれくらい働くかは，まだ自分で手を動かしてないのですが，コンセプトとしては魅力的*3。Rでは，library(hier.part)で一発です。おそろしし，R。

Variation partitioningは，もしかすると手法的には別な説明ができるのかもしれませんが，数本眺めた限り，CCAとかの群集構造を説明する要因の解析（＋空間的な構造あり）をする文脈で説明されているように感じました。ということで，あまり踏み込まず，ここまでということで。以下の英語の3本は，ほぼ未読。
